Pre-orders are available for new titles by EA games for your Mac! Titles include, Madden ’08, Tiger Woods ’08, Command & Conquer 3, Harry Potter and The Order of The Phoenix, Need for Speed Carbon, and Battlefield 2142. System requirements on Apple’s site reveal previously unknown facts, mainly identical requirements for each game, Intel Core Duo exclusivity, and the lack of support for all Macbook and Mac Mini owners. This seems to be due to the lack of a bonafide graphics card like those found on iMacs and Macbook Pros, no doubt a requirement for Transgaming’s emulation technology, Cider. Grabbed from Apple’s website:

System Requirements

  • Mac OS X v10.4.9 or later
  • 1.83GHz or faster Intel Core Duo processor
  • 1GB RAM
  • 6GB free hard-disk space
  • Video card: ATI X1600 series or later; NVIDIA GeForce 7300 or later
  • DVD-ROM drive

Note: This game does All games do not support the GMA950 integrated graphics card.

  2. According to Apple’s own, BF2142 is supported on the new iMacs, but it is not. First hand on my own iMac. Got my new iMac, did the software update (1.0 was the current at the time) and next was BF2142 that I bought that day at the Apple Store.

    DID NOT WORK!!!!

Went to Apple Store, asked the guys there, they said it should work, we loaded it up on one of the store machines, and guess what, it STILL DIDNT WORK! Search the Apple Discussions (Apples own website) and you’ll see some of these games (especially BF2142) don’t work on the new iMacs. The graphics drivers probably are causing the issues but could be CIDER as well, who knows. Don’t let Apple fool you. Even their own people both said “It will work” and in store people (at my Apple store) said “Guess it doesn’t work, would you like a refund?”

  4. Isn’t there a 1.1 iMac update now?

  5. the 1.1 (if you view the apple discussions) doesn’t help in fact it has made most people’s iMac’s worse than before.
